    Nestled on the steep slopes of Chinon, the 'Les Picasses' vineyard has been producing elegant Cabernet Franc for these past 50 years. Following a very traditional production method and adhering to her late grandmother Olga's organic and sustainable practices, winemaker Sylvia Raffault shows that the vineyard is in capable hands. The 2012 'Les Picasses' is a beautiful pink-red stone color, with ripe cherry on the nose, hints of lemon, soft tannins and minerals on the palate, and a light peppery finish. Though it drinks wonderfully on its own, this wine would do exceptionally well paired with savory lamb or a meaty pasta dish.

    Henri Bourgeois' 'Le Vert-Galant' traces its heritage to the reign of Henri IV, taking inspiration from the wines local to his chateau in Vendome. The grape variety, Pineau d'Aunis, is native to the historic Loire Valley of western France but is a rare find outside of that region. The fermentation and maceration process develops a very dry rose with hints of strawberry and citrus. This perfect aperatif will be sure to give you chills even on a warm summer afternoon.

By forgoing the use of machinery and pesticides in the vineyard, and fermenting using only the grape's natural yeast with no added sugar or sulfites, Brun can offer a pure, honest bottling that is delicious and versatile. His Côte de Brouilly is light-bodied, with elegant fruit and an earthy minerality.

    The eastern Loire has been a nexus of viticulture since Gallic times thanks to its proximity to major Roman and Celtic trade routes. That tradition of inter-regional exchange continues to this day with Henri Bourgeois' "Les Amphores" rose, which is made with Beaujolais region's premier variety, Gamay. This particular wine is a 'bled rose' obtained by draining or 'bleeding' vats of Gamay juice after 48 hours of cold maceration. The product is a bouquet of wild berry and red cherry, with a sprightly acidity that dances on the tongue. Enjoy it on its own, or with a rustic Provencal bouillabaisse.

    Founded in 1731 in Beaune by Michel Bouchard, Bouchard Pere & Fils, is one of the oldest wine estates in Burgundy with generations of experience in winemaking. Along with winemaker Caroline Gon, the wines of Héritiers du Comte Lafon are certified organic and biodynamic showcasing the true flavor of both the fruit and terrior. The Lafon Viré Clessé shows off a bouquet of poached pear and apple while in the mouth the minerality and wine’s well-balanced acidity shows thru and tapers off to a delicate finish.
