The Lageder Winery in Alto Adige comprises 55 hectares in this northern region. Schiava is a native grape variety and was long considered the red wine of this region until the 1970’s. The Lageder family has resurrected interest in the grape which thrives in the gravelly/limestone soil. Showing off a purple shimmer this fresh, well-balanced wine is juicy and soft and the moderate alcohol content and medium body lends itself to a wine that is amenable to slight chill in the warm weather.
