Legend has it in 1360 Archbishop Boemond II of Trier had fallen deathly ill during a visit to the Bernkastel in Germany. On his deathbed, the Bishop is prescribed a special wine from one of the local vineyards. After being administered the golden nectar from a green flask at his bedside—the Bishop rose from his stupor, instantly cured from all ailments. From then on this sacred plot of land in the Mosel--from where the magical juice was sourced-- became known as the “Doctor Vineyard” for its purported curative properties. Intense and mineral-driven with notes of eroding slate, concentrated stone, and more aptly perhaps, the sap of the earth. This is pure Mosel Riesling from what is often called the finest vineyard site in Germany.
