Made from a blend of rums aged 1 to 2 years in oak barrels, the Bacardi Gold, or Carta Oro, is a classic Cuban rum. Notes of vanilla, toasted almonds, light oak, buttery caramel, and sweet banana are readily apparent on the nose while the palate is full of rich flavor thanks to a warm zest of orange peel and a light, oaky finish. We know it as the rum and coke (or coke and rum, or any other variation of the word coke and soda, depending on the local colloquialism), but the Bacardi Gold forms the backbone behind the Cuba Libre.
