Chateau Lascombes has come a long way from being an army base in WWII. Undergoing a significant replanting and massive renovations in the late 2000's to install a 4 level, gravity-fed vat room, the vineyard is widely considered to have the most modern winemaking production in the region. The 2014 wine is stylish and bouncy, with rich cherry and purple plum cut by an edge of licorice. Less oaky than previous vintages, this bottle will continue to open and express with aging, revealing an extroverted personality by 2020. The present varietal distribution is 50% Merlot, 45% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Petit Verdot.
