Another winner from Guimaro, the Finca Meixeman Ribeira Sacra is their higher end, single vineyard offering -- that same Mencia grape is present, only finer, more concentrated, than ever before! Not surprising, considering the vines here are aged as old as a whopping 70 years on granite and slate soils. The wine itself was then aged an additional six months in a 5,000 liter oak vat, transferred to 500 liter barrels for malolactic fermentation, and then aged around another year for good measure. Open and aromatic, this wine is intoxicating with its red and black berry fruits, spicy and earthy yet balanced and juicy. Expect some moderate acidity to pair with its soft, tasty textures.
