    750ml - Bottle - New Stock

The highest peak in Sicily is Mount Etna, an active volcano on the east coast of Sicily. It is on the northern side of this mountain that we find the vineyards that produce the Tascante Ghiaia Nera. Here the vines of the Nerello Mascalese grape grown in the volcanic soil in the Piano district of Catania. The grapes grown here flourish and ripen in the hot Sicilian summer before being picked in mid to late October. It is these warm days that gives this wines its fresh and ripe flavor and showcases the true personality of this native grape of Sicily. Upon pouring this wine you will first notice its cherry red color in the glass and in the mouth you are treated to a bright, fresh taste and soft tannins. It is the easy drinkability of this wine which makes it fine on its own, but also makes it very food friendly. Our suggestion would be to dig out a traditional Sicilian recipe of Pasta alla Norma, Braciole di Manzo or a basic Ragu and you will instantly transported to Italy's most famous island.

While this was a great vintage for Rioja, and seems to have been truly exceptional for La Rioja Alta S.A.'s Viña Ardanza Selección Especial. 80% Tempranillo with the remaining 20% garnacha, the wine is expressive, aromatic, elegant, and clean, with the classical Rioja aromas of long aging in barrel and slow oxidation through the years in the wood. This wine possesses a polished and sleek palate while retaining plenty of energy. This wine has a stellar complexity of aromas, with scents of spice, smoke, earth, curry, beef blood, to forest floor. Overall, a tremendous Viña Ardanza, and a tremendous wine!
