2019 Caymus Cabernet — Warm up your October

2019 Caymus Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

The 2019 Caymus Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon ($79.99) boasts a traditional elegance unique even among Napa Cabernets. Filled with layers of lush, rich, dark fruit, these flavors frame a full-bodied core that is classic Napa. The Wagner family practices a technique called "hang time" where they let the fruit "hang" on the vine unusually long to develop the suppleness and mature tannins for which Caymus is known. The 2019 Caymus Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon ($79.99) is the wine you want for the casual get-togethers you will be enjoying this fall. This classic California Cabernet is the perfect wine to pair with NY Strips, Tomahawk or Ribeye steaks ... (read more)

Our Fabulous Fall Collection of Bordeaux under $20

2016 Château Mayne Vieil

While Bordeaux often conjures up thoughts of higher end wines from the many famous regions and chateaux of France, there are plenty of modest wines that we can enjoy as we explore the region, such as the 2016 Château Mayne Vieil ($15.99), 2018 Château Fongaban ($17.99), 2016 Château Haut Plaisance ($18.99), and the 2018 Château de Parenchère ($16.99). 2019 Planeta Cerasuolo di Vittoria — Direct from Sicily

2019 Planeta Cerasuolo di Vittoria

This week's featured wine is the 2019 Planeta Cerasuolo di Vittoria ($19.99), from Vittoria, a town in the southern part of the island of Sicily in the province of Ragusa. Here between the sea and the Iblean mountains are the vineyards that grow the grapes used in this incredible red wine. The 2019 Planeta Cerasuolo di Vittoria ($19.99) is a blend of 60% Nero d'Avola and 40% Frappato, grapes indigenous to the island of Sicily. It's a unique wine, recognizable and unforgettable for its youthful flavors and aromas of cherry, strawberry and pomegranate, due to the particular soil and climate in which the grapes are cultivated. Bursting with flavor, this versatile wine pairs well with many classic southern Italian pasta sauces, as well as with almost any red meat. Should you decide to search out a traditional Sicilian recipe such as Pasta alla Norma or perhaps Spaghetti alla Nerano from the nearby Sorrento peninsula, the pairing will immediately whisk you away to the Mediterranean's most famous island. 2018 Grgich Hills Estate Chardonnay — Welcome September

2018 Grgich Hills Estate Chardonnay

This week's featured wine is the 2018 Grgich Hills Estate Chardonnay ($38.99), from the southern tip of Napa Valley. The Chardonnay vines grow in the estate's American Canyon and Carneros vineyards near San Pablo Bay. The cool maritime breezes and morning fog allow the grapes to slowly ripen, producing complex flavors and a natural acidity that is impossible to achieve in warmer climates. The wine displays ripe peach, mango and tropical flavors. A note of minerality means this wine can be enjoyed with fresh seafood as well as chicken and grilled pork. So while the days are still warm, and the nights have a pleasant crispness in the air, our suggestion is to have a bottle of the 2018 Grgich Hills Estate Chardonnay ($38.99) on hand for those mid-September evenings on the patio. 2019 Jean Paul Brun L'Ancien Beaujolais

The reviews for the 2019 Burgundy Vintage are in and the vintage is going to be a winner. While we wait for the bulk of this vintage to arrive, a few have started to float in and they are a true harbinger of what is to come. One such Burgundy is from Domaine Rémi Jobard and a glimpse of this vintage is evident in his 2019 Remi Jobard Bourgogne Cote d'Or "Vieilles Vignes" ($39.99), this week's featured wine. 2019 Jean Paul Brun L'Ancien — Cool down your August

2019 Jean Paul Brun L'Ancien Beaujolais

This week's featured wine is the 2019 Jean Paul Brun L'Ancien Beaujolais ($17.99). Made from 100% Gamay grape, this wine is a "Vielles Vignes" which translates as "old vines" as these vines range from 40 to 60 years old and produce flavors that are unique to vines of this age. One of the best features of the Gamay grape is that on a hot, summer day you can put a slight chill on the wine (about 20-30 minutes in the refrigerator) without muting the true flavor of this grape. The 2019 Jean Paul Brun L'Ancien Beaujolais ($17.99) is also very versatile, so regardless of whether it's some herb marinated chicken, a simple burger on the grill, or a well-marbled steak from the butcher, this fantastic effort from Jean-Paul Brun will not disappoint.
