A delightful Tempranillo from Rioja, the Viña Cumbrero Crianza has bottle age that will make anyone and everyone do a double take--especially at this price! Crianzas by law must be aged at least 6 months in oak and 2 years aging total. This Crianza in particular received a 90 on Wine Spectator, and it's easy to see why: spicy aromas and fruit notes precede a remarkable structure with soft tannins. Red fruit continues in the palate along with a lively acidity. The finish is pleasant and elegant...definitely serve this with red meats on the grill...perfect for Labor Day cookouts!
