The Equis “Equinoxe” Crozes-Hermitage hails from the Rhone Valley where Maxime Graillot – son of famed Crozes-Hermitage pioneer Alain Graillot – started off on his own in the early 2000’s. Located in the Northern Rhone, this wine is comprised of 100% Syrah. Maxime de-stems nearly all his wines and then ages them in old Burgundy barrels (just as his father does). Maxime also engages in organic farming practice, handpicking all his fruit and using no pesticides in his farming. The result is a wine that is exuberant and expressive with sizeable flavor and bold fruit. Production is low, so not much of this wine is produced, but there is no doubt that care and excellence is put into every bottle he produces.
